ABOUT US

My husband (Richard Courtney) and I started working in Stained Glass as a hobby back in the 70's. Realizing that there was a need for a Stained Glass retail outlet on the north side of Houston we opened our doors in the fall of 1981 along with Richard's cousin. (That's where the company name originated.)

By 1982 Richard's cousin decided to pursue other options and was no longer involved in the Glass Art Shop.  About 14 years later Richard passed away in 1996 and since then I have been the sole proprietor of Cousins Glass Art.  I am so grateful for all of the ongoing support of so many friends to be able to continue to serve the greater Houston area.


Cousins Glass Art Studio is located in the heart of Old Town Spring on West Hardy Road.  We're really easy to find just about 5 minutes east of I-45 North in Spring, Texas. From I-45 North take Spring Cypress Rd East until you reach Old Town Spring, then continue straight until you come to West Hardy Rd and then turn right to head south. The railroad tracks will be on your left and we'll be on your right. Our workshop is located just behind the original Wunsche Saloon.  We've been serving Greater North Houston, The Woodlands, Conroe, Tomball and everywhere in between with Friendly, Courteous and Knowledgeable staff since 1981.


We have a spacious workshop that can be rented during business hours for just $8.00 per hour. This includes the use of all hand tools and glass grinders. There is a small additional fee for use of the shop's electric saws, the Kiln and sandblasting.

CLASSES & ART SUPPLIES

We offer classes for groups and individuals.

BEGINNER STAINED GLASS CLASSES

All Beginner Classes begin the first week of: January, March, May, July & September



WEDNESDAY MORNING CLASSES

10:00 AM - 2:00 PM (4 Hours each class for 4 weeks)
or choose
THURSDAY EVENING CLASSES
6:00 PM - 9:00PM (3 Hours each class for 5 weeks)

WE CARRY ALL SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR CLASS.
Please makes arrangements to come in to our shop prior to your first class to select your favorite pattern and glass.
In our Beginner classes we teach the
"Tiffany Method" (copper foil).
The piece you will make is approx 14" x 20".
We have many patterns to choose from.

BEGINNER LEAD GLASS CLASSES
This class schedule is the same as our
beginner classes above.
You will make a piece 14" x 18" using a
bevel cluster as the focal point.

GLASS FUSING CLASSES
This 2-3 hour class is scheduled by appointment only. You will make a pendant, pocket vase and a small dish. Learning Tack Fusing, Contour Fusing, Full Fuse and Slumping.
All Glass and Firing is included in class costs.

ART SUPPLIES

We carry all of the supplies needed for class. Please make arrangements to come in to our shop, prior to your first class, to select your favorite pattern and glass.

PATTERN DESIGN We have full service custom pattern design available for any taste. Large or small we can help you make your design ideas come true.

SANDBLASTING

SANDBLASTING Sandblasting services are available for large or small pieces. Please contact us for pricing.

REPAIR SERVICE

We offer repair services for most artistic glass items, from Tiffany lamps to large scale custom stained glass, and more. Each project brought in for repair will be inspected by us and you will receive a written estimate of the repair costs up front. All glass work is completed in-house by our own glass technicians.

SHOPPING

Stop by our workshop located in an quaint old house in Old Town Spring during business hours Wednesday thru Saturday to browse our wide array of glass.  We stock over 400 different glasses from Oceanside( Specturm, Uroborus), System 96, Kokomo, Wissmach, and more.  Our glass is all sold by the square foot. We have supplies for the beginner to the professional. We also offer custom glass art pieces so if you know what you're wanting just come in with your ideas and let's chat!

COMMISSIONED WORK

Yes, we create custom commissioned glass artwork. From small desktop pieces to large format windows, mirrors, doors and more. Commissioning artwork is the act of requesting the creation of a custom designed piece, often on behalf of yourself or another private individual, organization, the government, or a business.

TEAM EVENTS &
PRIVATE PARTIES

We offer private "Team Building Events" for large corporations to small businesses and organizations or clubs of all sizes. These events are scheduled at our workshop in Old Town Spring.

Private parties are limited to a maximum of 10 participants and for ages 18 and over.  You may make arrangements for snacks to be enjoyed before or after your party, although due to the nature of working with glass and a kiln as the artistic medium, no alcohol of any kind is allowed.

Private parties at our workshop last 4 hours and include all of the tools and materials needed for a Fusion Glass Project.
